THRIVENT BUILDS with HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Over 30 members are working to build the second Lutheran House in Bluffton, SC.    ILC is working together with Lord of Life Lutheran and Christ Lutheran to build the house.   This is part of a national program, "Thrivent Builds".

Wall raising day was May 13, 2006 with the dedication of the new home on July 29th, a record setting completion date, 30 days ahead of schedule.

Stephanie Frazier is the proud and bubbly single mother of 3 children who will be moving into the new home.  Stephanie works as a care-giver for a local Blufftonian woman.  Her children are Victor, age 14 who will be entering Hilton Head High School this fall; Aaron, age 9, who attends Hilton Head elementary and Jacelyn, age 5, who received a scholarship to attend Hilton Head Christian Academy.   Stephanie comes to the Bluffton area from Louisiana.

Stephanie tells she applied with Habitat for Humanity in June of 2005 and was notified in August of 2005 that she had been accepted for the home.   Finally on May 13th, 2006 Wall Raising Day arrived for her and her family.   She's happy to report she completed her 300 hours of "sweat-equity" on Saturday, July 15th.

The dedication was a moving event and special moment for Stephanie and her family.  She is so grateful for the blessings she has received.    Rob Lenz, President of Thrivent SESC Chapter Board, spoke on behalf of Thrivent and presented Stephanie with a  door knocker for her front door.    Island Lutheran Church presented 2 white rocking chairs as a gift for her front porch.
