Youth Ministry

- High School and College Age -

 At youth group we are committed to building a relationship with our Lord who gives us eternal life. Our youth group is also very involved in mission work with mentally handicapped adults.

Our youth group has been involved with Lutheran Disability Ministries (LDM) for the past 6 years. LDM is located in Anderson, IN. Each summer we spend a week at their program called Handycamp. We are each paired with a mentally handicapped adult. It is everyone's favorite servant event! Handycamp is a humbling and uplifting experience that refocuses our lives on Jesus Christ and all that he has done for us. The campers remind us of how simple God's message is to all of us. After our trips to Handycamp we decided to become involved with a local organization called P.E.P. (Programs for Exceptional People). In the past we have held Sunday afternoon Bible studies for them. And each year our youth group organizes a prom for all the members of P.E.P.

- Sunday School -

Island Lutheran Church believes that our year-round Sunday School is an important aspect of a child’s faith development.  Sunday School is a place to get to know Jesus Christ, learn the Bible and build friendships. Our church believes that the way to eternal life is through our Lord Jesus Christ, and our goal is to bring the news of Jesus to children and their families. 

Learning the Bible is an important phase of Sunday School.  We cover many of the major stories in the Bible through song, crafts, story telling and games.

Sunday School Hour begins at 9:50 AM for both youth and adults. 

- Confirmation Class -

Confirmation is a two - year program to help the 7^th and 8^th graders become an adult in their faith.  Classes are held from September to May.  Following the successful completion of the course of study the student becomes a confirmed member of Island Lutheran Church.        

- Special Events -

Our annual Valentine's dinner is a an elegant evening of dining and special music.  Our youth serve a sit down Easter Breakfast for all to enjoy between services on Easter Morning.  We also host an annual yard sale to earn money for HandyCamp.
